Building a basic robotic platform

Want to build (not buy) a basic robot that can move around, has a robotic arm and can be programmed to do what you want ? I built the following one using Lego technic blocks, some servo motors and a microcontroller. Why not use the Lego Mindstroms kit, you ask ? Well you can either just assemble a ready made robot or you can learn digital electronics, microcontrollers, motors and sensors and build your own unique robot from scratch. The second option is possibly difficult if you are not a professional or an electronics hobbyist.

Which ever option you choose, building your own robots means that you can equip your robot with an unlimited range of capabilities using sensors, connectivity modules and smart software.

Here is a video demonstrating the capabilities of the robot I built :

    Excellent work !
I would love to see some cool feature like automatic path decision algo into it.
    Keep it up !

    Hello mate…

I’m from Portugal, and I was wondering about doing something similar to what you did, but a little bit more develloped though.

I don’t really know if you’re interested, but I’m happy to share my project with you. Maybe we can build paralell projects even though we’re far away.

I’ve just found on youtube, a idea came to me, and I checked youtube to figure out if there was any one who have already tried my idea…well I didnt really find what I’m looking for, but you we were the closest to it.

If you’re interested, just email me back..

    cya soon

  • Nice job.
    Good luck.

hi, you got a cool ideas, im very interested of Temo robotics and plan to build it for my undergrad completion project (thesis), but in a different feature for an early warning device purpose, for instance in detecting hazardous gases, would this be possible to bulid? Added features can detect a specific distance? please give me some advise.
